Rice Tip
Add a few drops of lemon juice to your water to help keep grains from sticking to each other.

| Ingredients |

12 large
cabbage leaves
-
1/2 tsp.
poultry seasoning
-
1 1/4 lb. ground beef
-
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
-
1 cup cooked rice
-
2 8-oz. cans tomato
sauce
-
1 small
onion, chopped
-
1 Tbsp.
brown sugar
-
1 egg
-
1/4
cup water
-
2
tsp. salt
-
1 1/2
tsp. pepper 1 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar

| Directions |

Cover cabbage leaves with boiling water until
limp, then drain.

Combine ground beef, rice, salt, pepper, onion, egg and
poultry seasoning.

Divide mixture up and place in center of each leaf.

Roll up
and fasten with toothpick.

Brown in hot oil.

Pour in tomato sauce.

Combine
sugar, water and lemon juice.

Stir into tomato sauce.
-
Simmer covered for 1
hour.
This can also be used for stuffed peppers. Remove toothpicks before
serving.
