Rice Tip

Add a few drops of lemon juice to your water to help keep grains from sticking to each other.

Brown Rice Pilaf

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 boullion cube (flavor is your choice)
  • 1/2 cup uncooked brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (sauted in butter)
  • 3 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • dash tyme
  • 1/2 cup thinnly slide celery

 

Directions
  1. Saute chopped onion in butter
  2. In 1 qt casserole, add boiling water to boullion and dissolve
  3. Add remaining ingredient (excpet celery)
  4. Bake covered 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350 degrees F.
  5. Stir in celery with fork
  6. Bake an addtional 10 minutes
